UCB’s Whiplash Moving To Union Hall
New York City comedy fans learned this week that UCB’s Whiplash, a long-running stand up showcase hosted by WICF alumna Aparna Nancherla and Leo Allen, is moving to Brooklyn venue Union Hall. Whiplash has taken place Mondays at 11 PM at UCB’s Hell’s Kitchen location for the past nine years. At Union Hall, the start time will be 10 PM and admission will no longer be free; tickets will cost $8 in advance and $10 the day of the show. Whiplash’s run at Union Hall begins in April and tickets are currently on sale for the first three installments (4/9, 4/16, 4/23). The final UCB Whiplash will happen this coming Monday 3/26. The show is renowned in NYC and serves as a “proto-credit” for aspiring stand ups. It was recently portrayed in HBO’s Crashing in an episode where Pete Holmes delves into the city’s alternative comedy scene.
